I’m BACK!!!!!

It’s been a little over a YEAR since I last posted but with all the new changes that are fixing to take place I feel It’s time to RALLY the TROOPS…

During this last Legislative Session, Statue 73-7-12 was amended allowing the Board of Cosmetology to terminate its testing contract with Pearson Vue effective January 1, 2020.

The Board members are still NOT allowed to personally administer or monitor testing but are allowed to contract testing administrators….. This is where it’s going it starts going sideways!!!! We currently ONLY have Licensed Cosmetology Instructors administrating our Practical examination… We can only imagine who will be hire in the coming months…

It is my understanding that the Board hopes to contact with NIC so that our Graduates can still go to a local computer lab and take their written examination, but the Board must first take bids for a company to handle this portion of the testing… Most may not be aware that since we have been back with Person Vue our Graduates no longer have reciprocity with our surrounding states. Our neighboring states DO NOT recognized the Person Vue Written Examination!!!

As this new chapter of Board History unfolds I will keep you posted..

    Melvin
Thank you for coming back to inform us about what is going on at board.
I certainly did not know that our graduates do not have reciprocity with other states.
We can’t go back to the board being in charge of testing. It will be a nightmare. We must have a contractor who has no ties to anyone

My students have not had any issues with reciprosity at all.
Are you saying tbe MSBC does NOT want instructors to give exams?
Thats definitely not the spin i was told… i heard they don’t want examiners to be directly associated with any school! Which is a wise decision i think.

You are correct no examiners to be “Associated with a SCHOOL” But its ok to have a Cosmetology Salon Owner go in and test students that she plans on hiring in their salon….
