Monday 9-21-2015 Special Call Meeting…

On Monday 9-21-2015 the Board held a Meeting for the purpose of holding Hearings for  Inspection Violations..  Hearings are so boring….. I’m being honest I hate sitting through them so I usually don’t…   However, a lot of individuals usually don’t show, kind of like not show up for court when you get a speeding ticket…  So what I have to stay on top of is the MEETINGS after the HEARINGS!!!!   These are sometimes a bit juicy but the Board MUST give a SMALL written notice that has specific topics that will be discussed…

And on this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. ,the Board held such a meeting to discuss the following topics:  Rules and Regulations, RFP, Meeting with Inspectors, and Internal Office Policies….  WOW a lot to discuss in the middle of the afternoon!!!!

All of the Inspectors with the exception of Ms. Helen Carr was present for the meeting with the Board….  The Board made it VERY CLEAR to the Inspectors that unlike OLD Board and OLD Executive Director, they did not want them to be out there writing violations just to be writing them…  The Board also made it VERY CLEAR that “IF A VIOLATION CAN BE CORRECTED DURING THE INSPECTION , THEN IT’S NOT TO BE WRITTEN UP AS A VIOLATION”!!!!!!!!   It’s just a shame that Ms. Helen Carr was not present for this meeting as she has written me up for a URINE spot being on the floor by the LADIES toilet…   She also has written me up for DUST being  in a dryer chair….

The Board had discussion about hiring another Temp to assist in the licensing department and any other administrative duties that are behind.  Board member Bertha Johnson got extremely upset that the Board would consider hiring anyone to help in the licensing department she further stated that she thought that department was caught up.  After further discussion the Board voted to hire the additional Temp…  Excellent Decision !!!!!

The Board also Voted to have the license Renewal form that is attached to your licenses  to include in RED ink the following statement…   “Must be Accompanied with Two Passport Photos” …..  This has been a major problem in getting license renewals out… YES, the OLD BOARD made a decision that updated pictures MUST accompany ALL license RENEWALS  There are HUNDREDS of renewals on hold waiting for pictures..  Just think of the THOUSANDS of dollars that has been spent on letters going out to persons who have renewed their licenses and did not provide updated pictures…   I’m going to call a MESS a MESS!!!!!  AND HERE IS MY TAKE ON IT!!!!!!

Statute 73-7-11. Display of Licenses…   Reads as follows…

Each license shall contain a head photograph of the license holder, the person’s name, and the type of license held by the person.  The requirements of this section shall apply at the time of issuance of a NEW LICENSES OR at the time of RENEWAL of an existing license…..

I guess I am missing something but there is nothing in this LAW that tells me that a person has to submit a new head photograph each time a person renews…   The OLD BOARD made this RULE but the OLD EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR never followed through with having this rule included on the renewal forms…   So once again we are left to clean up a mess that should have never been…..   If you ask me, one picture covers this law….  there is no need in making unnecessary work, if you want to update your picture updated, if you don’t who gives a rat’s ***………

As for the Rules and Regulation and the RFP…   Neither item was discussed or maybe it was discussed that they were not going to be discussed?????   Either way a few members were upset that once again these items were being put OFF AGAIN…..

I am for the picture… I think we need updated photos… We aren’t all so lucky to remain the same youthful appearance as you Melvin :))) For some folks it would not be an issue, but remember this is to help with unlawful use of licenses so I’m for it…
At our Walgreens it’s just $9.00 – every two years right? and any Walgreens/CVS can spit one out for you quickly!
So glad that there was the inspection meeting… but I still think there should be a different code for schools – schools are not salons!!! If folks are learning in school… it won’t be ‘clean’ and ‘organized’! And my students have to take breaks at specified times, so they have to leave their stuff so they can come back to it! to have them completely clean before going on break or back to class is ridiculous! The mannequins are just on “pause”…
And what about the fines for not wearing your name tags… I now have to police that! I’m all about students having a name tag on, but I grade them on that… with random inspections… they don’t have to wear a name tag in a salon… why are we/they fined??? that’s a grade thing… so now every morning I have to sit for 30 mins and monitor their entrance – you know damn well they don’t all arrive at the same time… big waste of my valuable time… especially if you are the only instructor! Let me get off my soap box… I got work to do!!!!!!!!! As always, thanks again for spreading the info!
